Wilson Wong wasn’t born into a Christian family. He and his family and parents worshipped other spirits. However, one day an unwelcome spirit made its presence evident in his home. He tried everything to get rid of the spirit. He even went to the Buddhist priest, but nothing worked to remove the spirit from his home.

Wilson lived near a Lutheran church in Singapore and he went there to ask the local pastor, Rev William Chang, if he would come to remove the spirit. Without hesitation Pastor William went to Wilson’s home and cast out the spirit in the name and by the power and authority of Jesus Christ. The peace of Jesus entered Wilson’s home.

Pastor William asked Wilson if he would like to know more about this Jesus. Wilson became a follower of Jesus Christ, with an absolute passion to make him known to others. He has now been called as an evangelist by the Lutheran Church in Singapore, which cares for the seafarers whose ships pass through this major port from every part of the world.

Our small offering supporting the LCS in their ministry through the International Seafarers Mission is used to buy devotional books, ‘Jesus videos’ and other Christian literature. These are used by Wilson and German missionary Christian Schmidt as they serve thousands of seamen in practical ways.

During the global financial crisis, many ships were left stranded in Singapore’s ports. Many seamen were not able to get off their ships. Christian Schmidt was one of the few people who were allowed to board the ships. Through this ministry the seamen will take the seeds of the gospel with them on their travels to countries and places most people will never have the opportunity to visit and share the gospel.
