An introduction to Andrew Thinagaran from Singapore who will be studying at ALC on a Short Term Scholarship from February 22 to May 22, 2018.
I am an Indian. My wife, Grace, is Chinese. My children are Singaporean; Tiffany (17), Triyan (16) and Tricia (10). I was born a Hindu and converted to Christian faith. Started out in an Anglican church for the first 20 years. During my Seminary days, I was an active visitor at a Baptist church. After graduation, I joined the Presbyterian Church for 4 years. Finally, I joined and have been with the Lutheran church for 8 years. I was trained as an engineer, tried my hand in business before answering the call to the pastoral ministry.
In Jurong Christian Church (Lutheran), I serve with Rev. Anthony Loh. Besides shared preaching and pastoral duties, I am building up the teaching ministry. We focus on a series of modular teachings for new members to integrate them into the life and ministry of the church. For regular members we offer teachings of the “Books of the Bible”, “Lutheran teachings” and other “topical lessons”. Last year, we shifted into our new building and we lease space to five other non-Lutheran churches. I help to facilitate communication and manage relationship with these churches.
This will be my first visit to Australia. I am excited to be able to join Australia Lutheran College and learn in a different environment. I hope to be able to visit some Lutheran churches and learn from experiences of worship practices there. Coming from a non-Lutheran background, I hope this trip will be enriching to my Lutheran understanding. I am also going through my ordination process. Therefore, I will be preparing my thesis during this trip. It will also be much needed time to prepare my teaching material for my church. I hope to be able in some ways to serve and bless while in Australia.

JCC Vision: “Be a Christ-like Church, living out the Great Commandment and the Great Commission.”
Romans 8: 29 – For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.
I may not know who is predestined but I know what I am predestined for!
